Performance - band 'performs' the song - U2, Where The Streets Have No Name
Related to the theme - the central idea of the song is represented - either literally or exaggerated (amplified).
Narrative (mini film) - the video tells a story - Ed Sheeran, Lego House
Hybrid performance and narrative - this is perhaps the most common, there is a story going on, intercut with the band performing
Intertextual - the video references a classic film/TV show
No-lip synch - there is no 'miming' in the video, hard to pull off
One take - the video is done in one take
Artist absent - the artist doesn't appear in their video, or appears as a cameo
Cartoon/animation - the band are replaced by digital or drawn representations
Random/weird - the video has nothing to do with the songs theme
Humor - video is funny
The extended video - the video goes way beyond the length of the song (Michael Jackson's Thriller was the first to do this...)
Low Budget - the video has low production values, either deliberately or of necessity (the band have no money)
High Budget - the video is very expensive and has high production values
The video subverts or contradicts the central theme of the video - for instance, if the song is happy then the video will be sad or angry...
